Tonight my little girl said she had a sore body. Now, of course I have Epsom salt under the sink in the bathroom, but that isn’t nearly as fun as making prettier ones! In fact, adding lavender can help calm her and help her sleep better. Now, I want a bath!
This easy recipe also calls for Pink Himalayan salt, which I keep in my pantry, but end up using it more for bath salts than anything else. The salt in this link is the kind I use at home. It is cheaper than the salts I have seen in the store, but it is OK to omit it altogether. Using only Epsom salt is ok too. These make great gifts!
Here is the super simple recipe for homemade bath salts.
Calming Lavender Bath Salts
1 cup Epsom Salt
1/3 cup Pink Himalayan Salt (This is the exact kind I use, and where I bought it.)
5-10 drops lavender essential oil (Also the brand I use, but feel free to use your favorite brand)
2-4 drops purple food coloring (optional, the purple I used came in this package)
First, combine salts in resealable container, such as, a 1 quart mason jar. Then, add essential oil and food coloring. Put lid on container and shake well, so that the salt combines with the oil and food coloring. If you used food coloring, you should see that the food coloring will evenly disperse through the salt crystals. This is my 4 year old daughter’s favorite part! She loves the colors!
Great tip: Try making different colors of bath salts and layering them in a glass jar like sand art! These also make fun gifts!
